Thank You for 75 Years

A message from Mark Mactas, CEO, Towers Perrin

This year, Towers Perrin celebrates its 75th anniversary. This celebration is as much about our partnership with our clients as it is about us.

Over the years, we’ve collaborated with clients across a wide range of industries to find practical and innovative solutions to their issues. And we’ve been honored to develop deep and lasting relationships with many of our clients.

In February 1934, Towers Perrin was incorporated in Pennsylvania as Towers, Perrin, Forster & Crosby, Inc. (TPF&C). The firm had 26 employees. Today, Towers Perrin’s more than 6,000 professionals serve a client roster that includes nearly three-quarters of the Fortune 500 global companies and more than 700 of the Fortune 1000 largest U.S. firms.

At its inception, the firm operated both Reinsurance and Life divisions, and subsequently began to specialize in advising on pension plans and other employee benefit plan consulting. In fact, one of the firm’s founding Principals, Walter Forster, developed one of the earliest private pension plans in the United States.

Over the next several decades, the firm, which in 1987 shortened its name to Towers Perrin, continued to innovate in service to its clients. We expanded into related practice areas and widened our geographic reach to Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Australia.

The world has changed a great deal over the past 75 years, and so have the needs of our clients. A large portion of Towers Perrin’s success since those early days can be attributed to our ability to work effectively with our clients and help them meet their significant business challenges.

In short, it’s our relationships with companies that have made us successful. So, this year, we’ll be celebrating more than a 75th anniversary. We’ll be celebrating our partnership with our clients.

Thank you for your confidence in our work and your trust in us. We look forward to working with you long into the future.
